From the time when Johannes Guttenberg developed the movable-type printing press in 1450, it was almost another 500 years before the inkjet printing was developed. Today a continuous inkjet printer or CIJ inkjet printer is one of the most common types of printers.
The very first versions of inkjet printers were developed in the mid-19th century and by the 1950s, the first commercial CIJ inkjet printers were available on the market. Industrial coding machines use CIJ technology to quickly print one or more lines of print on a package or perhaps directly on a product.
One of the main reasons why CIJ inkjet printers are such a good fit for the companies that need marking or coding printers is because these printers are capable of printing at very high speeds. This keeps production lines moving swiftly which obviously is a high priority at any company.
Most CIJ printers can print multiple lines of letters and numbers, usually as many as three or four, if needed. In addition, many of these coders can print in a dozen or more languages, including both American and British styles of English. This provides great flexibility for companies seeking to sell products around the world.
Typically a CIJ inkjet printer will be used for small character coding, and this is needed by many industries including the food and pharmaceutical industries. If you need large character coding, a drop-on-demand (DOD) printer might be a better fit. DOD printing is ideal for secondary packaging such as corrugated cardboard or even non-porous materials such as plastic or metal.
Our Maxima® CIJ inkjet printers are quite popular within the industrial coding and marking industries. The Maxima® printer is quite easy to install and to learn to use and is capable of small character printing on a wide variety of materials and surfaces. You can print up to four lines of text and there are seven fonts to consider for printing. In addition, printing is available in several different languages.
Another CIJ inkjet printer option would be to consider our Leibinger® printers. These versatile printers are also small character inkjet printers. The Leibinger® printer is able to accept a variety of inks and also ink colors, and features very fast printing speeds. Maintenance costs and the cost of replacement parts also can be more affordable with these Leibinger® printers than with other coder brands.
Of course at PrintJet, we also sell refurbished CIJ inkjet printers, including Videojet® printers, Domino® printers, Willett® printers, Linx® printers and Imaje® printers. In addition, we sell high-quality generic versions of ink, cleaners and makeup for just about every make and model of CIJ coder you might have.
PrintJet also sells low-cost spare parts for all makes and models of coders. All of these items cost substantially less than buying straight from the manufacturer. Take a look at our Cost Saving Analysis guide to see how much money you could be saving by using PrintJet products and services.
