When it comes to labeling and carton printing, this process can eat up a significant portion of your packaging budget. The good news is that there are several ways to reduce carton printing and labeling costs, including the following.
1. Buy In Bulk
These days, there’s a lot of talk about moving from warehouses filled with cartons to using on-demand packaging. This can be a great option for your actual cartons, but when it comes to labels, these items don’t take up nearly as much space, so it’s smart to use the same label size for all of your cartons and buy these labels in bulk. Your price per label will be significantly lower if you purchase as many labels as you can in one shipment.
2. Quit Buying Labels
Of course, an even better option would be to simply stop buying labels at all and just print directly onto your boxes and cartons. At PrintJet, we offer several different brands of high-resolution industrial printers that can print directly onto your cartons, bypassing the need for labels on your secondary packaging.
With an ALE® industrial printer, you can print any type of alpha-numerics, as well as logos, barcodes and images on both porous and non-porous surfaces. Not only will an ALE® printer solve your label issue in regards to carton printing, these industrial printers are highly affordable and these coders can handle the most challenging coding requirements.
We have several models that provide side printing, as well as two options for omnidirectional printer. For an all-in-one high resolution printing system, we recommend the ALE® Nano Series which offers side printing and omnidirectional printing capabilities for text, images, dates, times, barcodes and logos.
If you don’t need omnidirectional printing, opt for the Nano18, and if you do need omnidirectional printing, consider the 18R model. One of the best things about both of these models is that it takes just a few minutes to set up and it’s almost immediately ready for your carton printing tasks.
For customers that need a compact printer, you might opt for the ALE® TC Series. There are three models in this series, all offering high-resolution printing on porous and non-porous surfaces. These also are easy to install and are built to handle the harshest industrial environments.
The ALE® TZ Series printers are yet another option, and are ideal for those needing omnidirectional printing on a wide range of substrates. As with all our ALE® models, this durable printer needs very little maintenance. For color printing, ALE®’s Coral Series and Calypso printer are solid choices. The Calypso printer is an CMY printer, while the Coral Series is perfect for those who need carton printing in CMYK color with a print height between 72 mm to 144 mm. ALE®’s TC-Twin model is another option, allowing you to print between 72 mm and 144 mm in black or red ink.
3. Find Low-Cost Replacement Inks
Whether you print labels or opt for one of our amazing ALE® printers, ink is definitely something you will need to purchase throughout the year. Ink is one of the most expensive items on the planet, which is why we established an on-site ink laboratory at PrintJet many years ago to provide low-cost replacement inks for our clients.
Our team of ink experts formulates high-resolution, CIJ and DOD inks for virtually every make and model of industrial coding equipment. If you need any type of ink for carton printing, just give us a call and we will match you to the best inks and fluids.
