At PrintJet, we provide replacement inks and replacement parts for all different makes and models of CIJ coders. While you might already own a CIJ coder, you probably never gave a great deal of thought to how these machines work or their history, but there are actually some interesting facts about CIJ coding that you might enjoy learning about, including the following.
1. CIJ Printing Has Been Around Awhile
It might surprise you to learn that this technology is more than a century old. In fact, CIJ printing was developed in the 1860s by a mathematician and physicist named William Thomson. While the earliest versions of CIJ printing were quite a bit different that the CIJ coding equipment we use today, Thomson was the first to patent the process or idea behind continuous inkjet printing. Another fun fact about William Thomson, he also is known for developing an absolute temperature scale, which is measured in units known as kelvins. This is because he was not only a scientist, but also a member of the aristocracy, Baron Kelvin of Largs.
2. CIJ Printers Work In Many Environments
One of the advantages of CIJ coding is that this technology can handle some tough environments. For instance, CIJ coders can print in hot and cold facilities as well as facilities with high humidity or perhaps a dusty environment. If your factory includes some unusual conditions, a CIJ coder might be the perfect match for you.
3. CIJ Coders Can Use A Variety Of Inks
CIJ coding equipment is quite versatile, and many makes and models of coders can handle many different types of inks. This includes everything from alcohol-based inks to solvent-based inks and much more. The team at PrintJet can match with an affordable, quality replacement ink that suits your printing needs.
4. CIJ Coders Can Handle Many Surfaces
CIJ inks can be used on many different surfaces, including glass, metal, plastics, laminated paper and more. This is one reason why CIJ coders are an ideal solution for many companies that produce a variety of products or use different types of packaging. Not only can these coders print on many surfaces, many models can print multiple lines of text, alpha-numeric codes, date codes and even barcodes and logos.
5. CIJ Coders Truly Are Continuous
At many facilities, there is a need for round-the-clock coding or coding for many hours of the day. Many CIJ coders can handle this type of workload, but it is important that you use the highest quality inks and make-up to reduce printhead maintenance. All of our CIJ replacement inks are formulated using a four-stage filtration system that ensures you won’t have to deal with residue, sludge or sediment.
6. CIJ Coding Keeps Production Lines Moving
Another advantage of CIJ coding is that many continuous inkjet printers are remarkably fast. While not all of our clients have extremely fast production lines, for those that do, CIJ coding equipment can ensure that your products are coded as quickly as possible. Of course, fast coding and fast drying go hand in hand, and the team at PrintJet can provide you with fast-drying inks with rapid drying times from about 100 micro-seconds to two seconds, depending on the printing surface.
At PrintJet, we sell both new and used CIJ coding equipment. Our new equipment includes models from Maxima®, Leibinger® and CodeJet®.
