Troubleshooting Tips For Your Videojet® Printer

If your company uses any type of continuous inkjet (CIJ) Videojet® printer, from time to time, you might have an operating issue or problem. While the team at PrintJet can help you with repairs you might need, sometimes a minor issue is easy to fix yourself. Here is a bit of troubleshooting advice to help you solve a few printing issues.

No matter what brand of Videojet® printer you have, each of these coders includes an operator manual. If you have misplaced your manual, most of these informational guides can be found online. Simply look up the make and model of your coder along with the search terms “operator manual.”

For Videojet® coders, most of the troubleshooting advice is located in Section 7 of the operator manuals. We recommend that you make copies of this section and store one copy near the coder in case you need a quick reference guide. These guides are helpful anytime a warning icon is shown. Most coders have a wide variety of warning icons, and it’s imperative that you are able to quickly refer to the manual in order to understand the problem at hand and investigate possible solutions.

Poor print quality is a problem you might have with any make or model of coding equipment, and often the solution is to clean your printhead. Be sure to clean the printhead according to the instructions listed in your manual. This might also include performing a nozzle flush procedure, as well.

In some cases print quality will be affected if the jet alignment is not correct. With a CIJ coder, you can have a situation where the pressure is too high or too low and your service manual should provide you with some helpful to tips to ensure proper jet alignment.

Also, sometimes print quality is affected if you have the printhead too far from the item or material you are coding. It is important that the material, such as a bottle or cable, be a proper distance from your coder and that the printhead be aimed at a 90-degree angle from the surface of your product or item.

In general, using the best quality replacement inks and fluids, as well as using top quality replacement parts also can help reduce these print quality issues. OEM inks can be quite expensive, so buying alternative, generic inks and make-up for your Videojet® printer can be an excellent option.

However, not all replacement inks and make-up are created equally. If you purchase alternative inks from PrintJet, you can rest assured that our inks will be the same high quality you would receive if you purchased directly from the manufacturer. In fact, our inks many of our inks rise above OEM quality. Each ink is formulated carefully and undergoes a four-stage filtration process so you never have to worry about sludge or residue. This greatly reduces printhead maintenance and can improve your print quality.

If you are having any type of issue with a Videojet® printer or perhaps a Domino® coder or coding equipment from Imaje®, Linx®, Maxima®, Citronix®, Willett® or another top brand, don’t hesitate to send us an email or give us a call. In addition to providing affordable, top-quality inks and fluids, we also provide repair services and even full refurbishment services. We can make your industrial coding equipment run just like new, and even provide you with rental coding equipment to reduce your downtime during repairs.
