Selecting A Coder: The Videojet Printer, Domino Coder & Other Options

Often our customers ask about different brands of coders. Should I get a Videojet printer? What about Domino coders? Coders are expensive, so we understand how important it is to make the best possible decision.

In general, we’ve found that there are many quality coder brands and while you can’t go wrong with a Videojet printer or Domino printer, there are other great choices, as well. For instance, we also recommend looking at Maxima coders, Linux printers or perhaps an Imaje or Altima coders.

While there are many excellent brands, the most important consideration is the type of printer rather than the brand. You need a printer specifically for your unique product. Some of our clients print on materials such as plastic or glass, and there are specific coders designed especially for this function. In some cases, you might need to place coding directly onto your product. Even some foods and pharmaceuticals need printing directly on the surface and you obviously need a specific type of coder for this task, not necessarily a specific brand.

Our team of experts can help you figure out which type and brand of coder can be the best choice. We can help you decide whether it’s best to select a drop-on-demand coder or a CIJ coder. All of the major brands, such as Domino or Videojet have many different models, and navigating through the maze of coders can be tricky. We can make it easy for you to decide what you truly need.

You also might consider purchasing a refurbished machine. Our refurbished coding equipment undergoes a thorough refurbishment process, and we send the coder to you in “like-new” condition. Rather than purchasing a brand new Videojet printer, Imaje coder or Maxima coder, consider purchasing one of our refurbished machines, as this can save you quite a bit of money.

If you’ve been shopping around for a Domino coder or a Videojet printer or another brand, you might have noticed that some companies will provide you with a new machine for free or at a greatly reduced cost. However, you have to sign a contract for two or three years, agreeing to buy all of your inks and parts directly from the manufacturer. In some cases, they also ask that you use the manufacturer for all service-related needs.

This might seem like a good option, but it can be much cheaper to opt for a refurbished Videojet printer from PrintJet or perhaps a Domino coder or another brand. In addition to saving money with the refurbished printer, we also offer inks and make-up for all major brands and models of coders. Our PrintJet team creates perfect, high-quality replicas of named brand inks and this all costs far less than buying directly from the manufacturer.

Again, give us a call and we can help you decide which coder you need, as well as how you can save money with our generic inks and fluids. You also can download our helpful Cost Analysis guide to check out exactly how much you could be saving.
